For pet/urine stains, sprinkle baking soda, leave for 15 minutes to absorb the stain, then vacuum up. Cornstarch can also be used for oil/grease stains.
Homemade window cleaner
- For glass windows: mix 1 part of water and 1 part of white vinegar. Add few drops of liquid soap
- For plastic windows: mix 600 ml of water with 1 tbsp of washing soda (sodium carbonate) and a handful of pure soapflakes
Cleaning windows
- Spray windows cleaner on both sides of the glass
- Use crumpled newspaper to rub the glass
- To make it easier to see streaks during cleaning, use left-right strokes on one side and up-down strokes on the other
Homemade air freshener
- Fill a spray bottle with 120 ml (4 fl oz) of water
- Add 10 drops of essential oil
- Replace the cap and shake well
- Spray in upward direction
Permanent marker stains
This tip works for permanent marker stains on non-absorbent surface (glass, plastic, etc). Rub the stain with a cotton ball soaked with nail polish remover.
Cleaning burnt cooking pan
Fill the pan with water until half full and mix 3-4 tablespoons of baking soda. Boil it with low/medium heat until the burnt particles can be scraped.
Fresh gym bag
Toss in one dryer sheet (e.g. Downy, Bounce, etc) into your gym bag. Change the sheet regularly.
De-scaling a kettle
Pour white vinegar to cover the base and leave for 1 hour. Rinse with cold water. Fill the kettle with cold water, bring to boil, and throw away the water.
